    Practice Owner
    Retired February 28, 2013 but still active owner of Southington Veterinary Associates. Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee. Dr. Rodger E. Foster, a 1984 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine--moved to CT to pursue his dream of owning his own practice.  In 1985 he joined Old Canal and eventually bought out the small practice located on Darling St.  Since that time Dr. Foster has made many changes to the outside of the practice but the heart of the clinic remains the same.  His easygoing manner and quality medicine have kept clients coming back year after year from as far away as Florida. 

    Dr. Foster hand-picked his Associates currently operating SVA.  He wanted the practice to maintain the same high standards in quality medical care, compassionate care and fair pricing he has always offered.

    His retirement consists of managing a menagerie of pets at home with his wife Sherry.  He is looking forward to starting a farm down South and enjoying his days of retirement with occasional trips back home to check on the practice.
  • Bridgit Herrick , B.S. Animal Science, CVT

    Bridgit Herrick possesses over 20 years of experience in the veterinary field.  She was hired as a veterinary technician in October of 1996 with a B.S. degree in Animal Science-self design from the University of Vermont.  In addition to passing the veterinary technology certification program in 2005, Bridgit took over as practice manager at Southington Veterinary Associates.  Working towards certification in veterinary management  she is currently trying to fill Dr. Foster's shoes and exceed the standards of compassion, medical care, integrity and professionalism that SVA clients have come to rely on.
    She and her husband along with 2 dogs, 2 cats and multiple fish call the shoreline their home.  They spend weekends at the dog park, in addition to sight-seeing around the area and gardening.


  • Tom Insalaco, DVM

    Tom Insalaco, DVM

    Associate Veterinarian
    Dr. Thomas Insalaco is a native of Western New York State who has been working with animals since 1993.  He is a 2004 graduate of the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine--(War Eagle!). After graduation he completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Angell Animal Medical Center- Western New England.  Dr. Insalaco went on to spend 5 years practicing canine and feline medicine in Orchard Park, New York with a heavy emphasis on emergency medicine and surgery.  

    In 2010 he moved to Connecticut and in September 2011 Dr. Insalaco joined the SVA team. Dr. Insalaco enjoys all aspects of canine and feline practice, but has particular interest in the areas of emergency medicine, surgery, wound management, orthopedics and feline medicine.

    In his spare time, Dr. Insalaco enjoys cooking, playing the guitar and ukulele, skiing, cheering for the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, and spending time with his cats: Virgil, Beatrice, Dante, Lucy, and Phil.

    Dr. Joseph Janicki got his DVM degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in New York in 2003.  He joined the Southington Veterinary Associates team in May 2012. Dr. Janicki resides in Southern CT with his wife and 2 children.
  • Dr. Haverley Coy, DVM

    Associate Veterinarian
    Dr. Haverley Coy joined Southington Veterinary Associates in June 2012.  She is excited to be a part of our team. She graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado with her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, after completing a bachelor's degree in biology as well as, a performance piano degree from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. 
    Her interests include surgery and dentistry. In addition to cats and dogs, Dr. Coy is one of our go-to doctors for pocket pets.  Dr. Coy lives with her menagerie of dogs that includes: Ozzie, an Aussie Mix, Spud, a Boxer mix, and B.J. and Googley, the newest members who are both Pekingese.  In her free-time, she enjoys playing the piano, traveling and spending time outdoors.
  • Dr. Brian Vitelli, B.S., D.V.M., M.A.

    Associate Veterinarian
    Dr. Brian Vitelli has joined our practice! Dr. Vitelli received his Bachelor's degree in animal science from the Purdue University School of Agriculture in 1977 and received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from the Purdue Veterinary School in 1982.  He holds Master's degrees in biology, entomology and public health.  In addition, Dr. Vitelli has a Connecticut teaching certificate, a certificate in forensic entomology, and is certified in veterinary acupuncture.

    Prior to practicing here, Dr. Vitelli, built, owned and sold Foxon Veterinary Hospital, taught science at the Morgan School and Gateway Community College, served as a relief Public Health Supervisory Veterinary Medical Officer for the Food Safety Inspection Service of the USDA and worked as a health inspector for a municipal Health Department.  For the past two years, Dr. Vitelli has been practicing Veterinary Medicine and surgery at Mill Pond Veterinary Hospital on the Connecticut shore.

    Originally from the New Haven area, Dr. Vitelli currently resides in Guilford with his family. His pets include several pythons, two tortoises, Charlie the Wonderdog and 18 year old Stinky Cat.

    Dr. Vitelli is currently seeing patients and performing acupuncture at Southington Veterinary Associates where he is committed to the health and well being of his patients.  When not hard at work, Dr. Vitelli enjoys reading, nature study, traveling, and spending time with his family.

  • Christina Spann

    Christina Spann

    Veterinary Ambassador
    Eight years ago Christina was hired as a veterinary ambassador at SVA and today is in charge of running the front end. Her customer service record is impeccable and many of our clients look forward to seeing her smiling face at the front counter.

    She attended Roger Williams University in Rhode Island and was studying marine biology before joining SVA.  Her plans are to continue to excel in customer service and currently is working towards getting certified in customer service in order to be a customer service advocate.

    Christina is an avid softball player and lives with her husband and 2 cats.  She is also responsible for creating the client scrapbooks found throughout the clinic!

    Bill Daily joined the Southington Veterinary Associates Reception team in May 2012 with a Veterinary Assistant Certificate from Middlesex Community College.  As a former package store owner and world traveler, Bill understands the importance of interacting with people and their pets as well as the important bond they share. Bill is the proud owner of a chocolate lab named Colby who likes to go hiking and exploring in his free time. In addition, Bill spends a lot of time volunteering at shelters.  His dream is to finally visit Antarctica.
  • Megan Kimball

    Megan Kimball graduated from the University of New Hampshire where she majored in History and minored in Race, Culture and Power.  Prior to joining Southington Veterinary Associates Meg worked for a number of years in a veterinary practice in Maine. She joined the Southington Veterinary Reception Team in July 2012 fresh from a job with AmeriCorps.  She is efficient, knowledgeable, and very compassionate with clients and their pets.  She spends her free time with her adopted rescue lab Remy and Emma, her Quarter/Arabian cross mare.  Whenever she gets the opportunity, Meg likes to visit family in Maine and go hiking.

    Sue joined the reception staff at Southington Veterinary Associates in November 2012.  She has a BS degree in Corporate Communications from Southern CT State University and a long history in public relations and animal welfare.  Prior to joining SVA, Sue spent a decade as the shelter manager for a non-profit humane organization here in Connecticut.  She and her husband, Patrick are proud parents to three German Shepherds, a cat, a house rabbit and fish.  She is known to state, quite proudly, that all of her kids have fur!

    Certified Veterinary Technician
    Sue graduated from Becker Junior College in 1992 with an A.S. degree in veterinary technology.  In 2006 she was re-certified in veterinary technology through the AVMA.  One of our chief surgical team members she has been a part of SVA off and on since 1994.  Her dedication to duty constantly has her on the run.  She currently manages all of the laboratory maintenance procedures, technician training programs within the hospital, is in charge of managing the surgical suite, and manages the animal care assistants. She is an integral part in Southington Veterinary Associates continuing to excel according to American Animal Hospital Association standards.

    As busy as she is, Sue always finds time for her husband and 2 young boys--during the summer they like to visit the races at Waterford Speedbowl. Of course if Def Leppard is in town Sue will be found front row and center at the show!

    Deb Holyst has been with Southington Veterinary Associates since 2005.  She earned her B.A. in Anthropology with a biological concentration from Central Connecticut State University in 2003.  Deb is currently pursuing her degree in Veterinary Technology.
  • Jennifer Ringler

    Jennifer Ringler

    Veterinary Technician
    Jennifer joined SVA in November 2012.  Jen has been working in the veterinary field for over 7 years in various roles in a couple of area hospitals as a technician, veterinary assistant, groomer, receptionist, etc.  Her upbeat attitude and bubbly personality has made her a great addition to the staff at SVA.  In addition, she has completed multiple hours in continuing education courses and completed the Dog Training Program with CT K9 in 2004, as well as a number of years grooming pets.  Jen has been working with animals for over 15 years.  In her free time, Jen enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, her 14 yr. old Akita, Sasha and her rescue guinea pig, Jim.  They spend a tremendous amount of time outdoors fishing, fixing vintage cars, dirt biking, and archery.  She also makes a fantastic Turkey Chili!

    joined the Southington Veterinary Associates team in November 2012. She graduated from UCONN in 2009 with a major in Natural Resources Management and Engineering with a concentration in Wildlife Management.  Mariah had worked in a couple of different veterinary clinics for a few years before deciding to join SVA.  Her experience as a veterinary technician as well as a receptionist has really helped round out the veterinary team at SVA.  In her free time she enjoys riding motorcycles, going to flea markets, and spending time with her 3 cats--Southpaw, Tripp and Diesel.

    Orla Molloy joined Southington Veterinary Associates in 2010 as an ambassador.  Primarily started out with a career focused on wildlife.  She has been actively pursuing her B.S. degree in addition to completing her degree in Veterinary Technology from Middlesex Community College.  As a full-time employee and student Orla doesn't have a lot of free time but when she gets the chance she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 dogs.

    Sherry Foster is the payroll administrator at Southington Veterinary Associates. A wife, mother, step mother, business owner, and volunteer for The Chariots of Hope Organization, which provides wheelchairs to those in need, she is constantly in motion never stopping until the job is done.  An inspiration to anyone who believes that hard work will take you places.
